Good encounter: i suggest to open a second entrance / way out, otherwise it will become a cul-de-sac without any trap and / or guarding method, due to the smoke wall being an obstacle of the cultists and cobolds too
Its great to see you working on this and you having a first encounter!
Here some comments:
- The "passive" feels a bit easy to miss on the monsters. Maybe make it (with another colour) also like an attack?
- I guess the players enter top left? I think having some mark for where players come in on the map can be helpfull. Here it may be clear but in general
- I really like the "smoke screen" wall! And also in general the map is definitly more interesting than most ones. having 2 ways, the smokewall and dangerous terrain!
- One thing about the environment. The area attacks should be: "When you start your turn here, or when you enter it the first time on your turn". Else players can play ping pong with the enemies and they take fire/ashen damage several times. (once each time they go through and also one time at the start of their turn).
- I think one thing which could make the encounter from good to excellent for me would be if the map and the enemies would interact more with each other. Like there being some (more there is only 1 place bottom left) places to grant cover for archers, as they move around. Or if the melee guys could in some form push with their attacks to use the dangerous terrain.

- I know this is hard to do, but I really love the "3D" feeling maps stuffed fables (the boardgame) has like explained here: https://www.reddit.com/r/RPGdesign/comments/1fhen20/map_readability/ln9eoki/ or an image example here https://boardgamegeek.com/image/4091388/stuffed-fables these look so much better than normal RPG maps
Anyway thanks for the work and good luck on your journey!
